SendIt - Off Campus Library Service provides support to Flinders University students who are; studying fully online or fully externally, who are on placement or who live outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area. The service also supports staff members who are not based on the Bedford Park campus.
The service provides access to a wide range of library materials and services including; posting books and emailing articles, advising on reciprocal borrowing rights with other university libraries and help services for students who live outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area.
You will need to register before you can use the service.
Requests for books, book chapters and journal articles are available via Findit@Flinders
SendIt - Off Campus Library Service is available to Flinders University students who fulfil one of the following criteria:
If you are in a remote location within Australia we can provide you with loans of books delivered via StarTrack couriers. We can also supply copies of journal articles, book chapters and many other resources (within copyright). We will send these to your Flinders email address as pdf attachments, unless you advise us that you can only receive via post (available for students with no internet, or very slow internet). You can specify your delivery requirements on the registration form.
Courier delivery times may be longer for remote areas or where postal delivery is weekly, so please allow extra time when ordering book loans from the service. If you have any questions about returning books via StarTrack couriers please contact them directly on 13 23 45 and they will let you know whether you need to take your parcels to the post office, or whether they will collect from your address. Parcels should never be placed in a postbox.
If you are off-shore then you must register for the SendIt service so that we can provide you with copies of journal articles, book chapters, sections of reports, copies from theses and many other resources (within copyright) from our collection. We will send these to your Flinders email address as pdf attachments.
Please note that we cannot send loans off-shore. However we can send one chapter or 10% of a book (in compliance with Australian copyright law - see below for more information about Australian copyright law).
If your placement takes you outside of the Adelaide metropolitan area then you must register for the SendIt service so that we can supply any articles or books you require for the duration of your placement. We recommend that you register for the service 7 days before leaving.
If your home campus is one of those listed above and you are not required to attend Flinders main campus, then you are also eligible for the SendIt service.
The map below defines the Adelaide metropolitan area by postcode. If you are an internal student based at Bedford Park campus who lives within the brown shaded region, you are not eligible to use this service.
You can register for the service online.
Please call our toll free number 1300 354 633 (select 3 for Library) if you require any assistance filling out the registration form. Once you are registered we will send a confirmation email to your Flinders email address, and once you have received this confirmation (which includes information on using the service and placing requests) you are welcome to start submitting requests.
It is very important that the contact details on your library record are correct, as any books you request will be sent to this address. This is a separate process to the SendIt registration and you can update your contact details through the student system (students) or human resources (staff).
There is no charge for a registered SendIt student or staff member to use the service.
There is no charge to send books out, or for their return. Books are sent out in StarTrack bags with a pre-paid return bag (please see the FAQ 'How do I return my loans' for more information).
